Fake Your Way to the Top
November 29, 2006

The pre-eminent "They" say that you should dress for the job you want, not the one you have.

Well, why can't the same be said for how one should accessorize?

For those out there who make Keeping Up With the Joneses a contact sport, here's a site that could help you get ready for the one-up-manship holiday season without breaking the bank ... too much.

Bag Borrow or Steal
works similarly to other online rental companies (e.g. NetFlix) the only difference is that you're getting a Vera Wang necklace or Nicole Miller clutch rather than the latest romantic comedy.

Just be sure to get lots of pictures of you with your BB or S items before you have to return them, or else why even bother?

Bacilio's Buyer Beware:
You broke it, you bought it has been updated for the digital age to "You don't return it within/on the fine print's terms, you bought it," so this service isn't for the flaky or faint-of-heart online consumer.

Great idea, Bacilio! I never knew BB or S had more than bags. Really, any jeweler could adapt this idea to his or her own store--a way to make more money on pieces that don't turn as fast as they'd like.
