Must Have: Titanic-DNA
October 19, 2007
The "Titanic-DNA" watch contains authentic parts of the
Titanic ocean liner drawn from the ocean floor.
No, seriously.
And for all the history buffs out there who already know that the
centenary of the sinking of the
Titanic is coming up, there are plans for the development of 185 acres of dockland in
Belfast that include the cradle of the
Olympic and
Titanic. The memorial project is to be unveiled in
Belfast in 2012. Book your tickets now! (

Product Info:
The automatic Titanic-DNA incorporates elements from ocean-floor remains of the famous ocean liner that sank in 1912 after hitting an iceberg. The luxury watch, first in a DNA of Famous Legends collection of Swiss brand
Romain Jerome, integrates oxidized steel from the
Titanic with titanium in a rust-color case (also available in gold or platinum with brilliant or trapeze-cut diamonds) and its coal in the black dial. Titanic-DNA is limited to 2,012 watches (for the 100th anniversary year of the sinking). (
Source) The hands are inspired by the anchor of the
Titanic on a black watchface painted from lacquer made with coal recovered from the wreckage.
