Prada Pop Watch
January 11, 2008

I usually rotate between two classic watches I've owned for quite a while, but after noticing Prada's new ad campaign shot by Steven Meisel and featuring model Sasha Pivovarova, it just might be time to inject a little fun.

Hi Hope, They haven't really hit stores yet. I didn't get a confirmed ETA, but the SoHo New York flagship store says they received a pink one last week, so hopefully soon! Prada / 575 Broadway / 212.344.8888

Hi Jennie, The SoHo store said the pink was $300 but that they didn't have a retail price yet for the black. (Hopefully we were talking about the same watch--I'll check with them next week.)

Prada "watches" have arrived...except they are concept watches, read: FAUX. Leather bracelets, really, the idea behind them is "make your own reality" to go with the fantasy feel of the collection. It is quite lovely on the wrist and I like the artistic point, but I opted not to part with the $275 retail price. If you are interested, visit Prada.com to find a store location near you. They are extremely limited (only 3 in the NYC flagship, 2 black, 1 beige). However, if you are, like me, a little disappointed, look for my post on alternate, "real" skinny watches this week. FYI, it took 3 phone calls and 2 visits but I did confirm that no functioning timepieces are arriving!
