Ad It Up: Stephen Webster + Xtina (+ Hitchcock)
March 6, 2008

If you're a JCKstyle newsletter subscriber (no? click here—it's free!), you already know that Stephen Webster and Christina Aguilera joined forces on a new silver jewelry line.

WWD reported that the first collection, Shattered, is inspired by Gothic church windows while the second, Superstud, has punk appeal. Keep your eyes peeled: The line launches in BaselWorld. After that, you'll find it at Neiman Marcus.

Now, for the ads…oooh! Webster aptly looked to the silver screen for his campaign, re-creating Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder and Rear Window, with Aguilera, of course, as a modern Grace Kelly. I think it's divine! The edgy duality captures the spirit of both designers and the collection. Plus, it's right in step with fashion's put-together tempo…with something lurking beneath. Hitch is certainly enjoying his moment: Vanity Fair's recent Hollywood Issue also cast Tinseltown's tops in his masterpieces.

So what do you think of the campaign—brilliant or for The Birds? …And which Hitchcock heroine—Christina, Charlize, or Scarlett—shows the most Grace?

Good campaign and lots of fun. Hitch made his stars like Cary Grant & Eva Marie Saint in North By Northwest, Grant & Grace Kelly in To Catch A Thief, and Ingrid Bergman & Cary in Notorious, James Stewart & Kim Novak in Vertigo, look fabulous and glamorous. As far as today's stars, Charlize definitely has a big edge over the others.

I vote for Christina in The Dial M for Murder ad which perfectly captures her elegance as well as highlights the fabulous jewelry.

Perhaps I can't shake off the Christina Aguilera of old that's why I vote for Charlize Theron. She has so far exemplified grace and elegance.

I'd be interested in seeing more jewelry by Stephen Webster. Can you show us readers some more? Thanks in advance. Kathy
