IGI India Launches Design Course in Mumbai

The International Gemological Institute has launched a jewelry design course in Mumbai, India.
Students are provided with a state-of-the-art jewelry-design kit and lab manual. Course work includes illustrative methodology, design technique, fundamentals of precious metals, manufacturing techniques, jewelry merchandising, and a jewelry-design project.
IGI has two full-service gem-testing laboratories in India, one in Mumbai, and the other in the Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ Zone).
IGI has schools of gemology in the United States, Belgium, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. The Institute began teaching courses in China in 2001. In 1997, IGI became the first organization to teach rough-diamond classes in Canada.
