-- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 8/4/2006 8:22:00 AM

Jewelry Information Center’s board of directors elected Myriam Gumuchian of Gumuchian to a two-year term as chair. She succeeds John Green of Lux, Bond and Green who served as JIC chair from 2003-2006. Gumuchian is the first woman to be elected to head up the JIC Board in the organization’s 60-year history.

"We have a fantastic board, and I am excited about working with them as chair to continue pushing JIC to make it an industry organization that everyone is proud to be part of," Gumuchian said.

In addition to Gumuchian, the nonprofit trade association which promotes the jewelry industry to the consumer, elected the following new officers for the coming year: Matthew Runci of Jewelers of America, vice chair; Lowell Kwiat of Kwiat, Inc, secretary; Ross Markman of Suberi Brothers, Inc., treasurer.

JIC also elected Alyce Alston of DeBeers LV/USA and Duvall O’Steen of World Gold Council as new directors and re-elected the following directors: Aida Alvarez, Birks & Mayor’s; Artie Bennos, Simms II Jewelers; Jonathan Cohen, I.B. Goodman Mfg.; Steven Davolt, Ben Bridge Jeweler; Terri Eagle, John Hardy; Jim Kerwin, Kerwin Communications; Kathryn Kimmel, Gemological Institute of America; Andrew Kohler, A.B.
