Blue Nile Sues Odimo Over Diamond Photos

Blue Nile has filed a lawsuit against rival Odimo for copyright infringement, alleging that Odimo’s Diamond.com site copied photographs and copyright-protected materials from Blue Nile, according to an article in the Puget Sound Business Journal. Blue Nile is asking the court to compel Diamond.com to stop using the images and also is seeking monetary damages.

House of Taylor Goes for Nasdaq Listing

House of Taylor Jewelry has filed an application with Nasdaq to have its common stock listed on its exchange. It has also appointed Pauline Schneider to the position of chief financial officer. Schneider replaces Jack Brehm.

Jeweler Sentenced for Misleading IRS

Benny Ray Wadsworth, 64, of Pocahontas, Ark., was sentenced to 10 months in prison and fined $25,000 for impeding IRS agents trying to investigate his taxes, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Prosecutors said that Wadsworth falsely claimed to have a canoe rental business that offset the income from his jewelry business, the newspaper said. He pled guilty in June to the charges.

South Carolina Jeweler Dies

George Kenneth Satterfield Sr., 73, owner of the Jewelry Warehouse, a four-store chain first established in West Columbia, S.C., died in September. Satterfield founded the Jewelry Warehouse in 1977 from a wholesale business after he was severely burned in an accident. Satterfield worked for 25 years with the Miss South Carolina pageant.
