Space: Yurman's New Frontier

By Carrie Soucy, Senior Editor -- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 10/1/2005

David Yurman achieved iconic status a while ago, but in August Yurman's jewelry was, literally, out of this world.

Space shuttle Discovery, the first shuttle to launch in more than two years, carried one of Yurman's rings on its mission, thanks to the daughter of Charles Carmada, one of the astronauts. Chelsea Carmada, as part of a loose tradition among families of astronauts, purchased a David Yurman ring from a local jeweler in Norfolk, Va., and engraved the band with “Love Dad.” Carmada carried the ring with him throughout the mission, thereby introducing Yurman—the jewelry brand already so well known on planet Earth—to the final frontier.
