Revere and Learning Annex Offer Course

Staff -- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 3/1/2005

San Francisco's Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts is teaming up with the Learning Annex for the third time to present a daylong seminar for jewelry designers. The event, How to Start Your Own Jewelry Line, will be held in downtown San Francisco on March 20. The Learning Annex offers continuing-education seminars nationwide and collaborated with Revere last year to present two similar events. More than 350 attendees came from across the country to learn marketing tips from the experts.

The seminar covers the ins and outs of making a career as a jewelry designer. Especially important for aspiring jewelers as well as designers who are currently marketing their work, the day will offer information on how to develop your identity, where to find inspiration, pricing and selling your work, plus how to work with sales reps, galleries, jewelry stores, trade shows, and magazines.

Moderator Alan Revere is a German-trained master goldsmith, author, and teacher of jewelry. Panelists include Harriete Estel Berman, an internationally acclaimed jeweler and sculptress who uses recycled tin to construct her art. Kate Richbourg has been working in the bead industry, teaching nationwide classes, and helping students promote their own beadwork for over 10 years. Elizabeth Shyppert, co-owner of Velvet da Vinci metal-arts gallery in San Francisco, has overseen all aspects of running a gallery for the past 13 years.

The fee for the day is $55 general admission, or $32 for Revere students. For information call (415) 391-4179, or visit www.revereacademy.com. To register, call the Learning Annex at (415) 788-5500, or visit www.learningannex.com.
