CJA Honors Gleim

Arthur Gleim received the highest honor from the California Jewelers Association, the Robert B. Westover Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented to him in a ceremony in Beverly Hills on Oct. 15.
The award recognized Gleim as one of the most highly respected and successful jewelers in the United States. It cited his "unselfish contributions," lifelong commitment to "championing education and gemological knowledge" and "devotion to enhancing the jewelry industry through distinguished and loyal service."
Gleim previously won the top national award from the American Gem Society, the Robert M. Shipley Award. He is the only person to hold all of the following offices: president of the American Gem Society, president of Jewelers of America, chairman of the Gemological Institute of America, and president of the California Jewelers Association.
Gleim Jewelers is one of the premier family-owned, independent jewelers in the country. Arthur's father, Frederick Gleim, opened the first Gleim's store in Palo Alto in 1931. Arthur's daughter, Georgie, who now serves as Gleim's president, followed her father's footsteps by becoming president of the American Gem Society. Gleim's currently operates stores in downtown Palo Alto, the Stanford Shopping Center, and downtown Los Altos.
