Fund-raiser Set for Stricken Jeweler

Staff -- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 11/1/2004

A fund-raiser/silent auction will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10, to benefit Kinga Marjai, master jeweler for designer Alex Sepkus, who was stricken with spinal meningitis in June 2003. The benefit will take place at B.B. King's Blues Club in New York City and will feature a silent auction of fine jewelry, watches, and other luxury items from such notables as John Hardy, David Yurman, Roberto Coin, Stephen Webster, Me & Ro, Bedat & Co., Alex Sepkus, and more.

Despite a bleak prognosis, Marjai awoke from a three-month coma in September 2003 and has made significant progress. She faces extensive surgeries and long-term therapy, and she has no means of support.

To help offset some of her expenses, Alex Sepkus and Jeff Feero have established "The Trust Fund Benefiting Kinga Marjai." Friends, colleagues, and industry associates have donated generously, but Sepkus and Feero hope the fund-raiser/silent auction will raise enough money to address Marjai's most immediate needs. Marjai remains optimistic and is determined to return to her career at Alex Sepkus Inc.

The benefit event will run from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at B.B. King's Blues Club, 237 W. 42nd St., New York. It will include live music from The Matt Chertkoff Trio featuring "Sweet Georgia Brown," food, and a cash bar. Tickets are $75 each and are not tax deductible. To purchase tickets or to make a donation to "The Trust Fund Benfiting Kinga Marjai," contact Jeff Feero of Alex Sepkus Inc., (212) 391-8466 or e-mail: Kinga@alexsepkus.com.
