WJA Awards Student Scholarships

Staff -- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 10/1/2004

The Women's Jewelry Association (WJA) 20th Annual Student Scholarship Program awarded $14,000 to nine jewelry students in 2004. The annual awards are based on slides of three finished pieces submitted by each student, who must be enrolled in a jewelry or watch design study program in the United States. Additionally, two references were required from either teachers or gallery/store owners familiar with the student and his or her work. WJA's top student scholarship, the June Herman Scholarship, was awarded to Kathryn Osgood in the sum of $3,000. Winners of $2,000 scholarships were Junghyun Woo and Tzu-Ju Chen. Scholarships of $1,500 were awarded to Kathleen Bostick and Georgia Vandewater. Scholarships of $1,000 were awarded to Moe Kuroki, Tricia Lachowiec, Michelle Ritter, and Ayuko Izumi.

The next WJA Student Scholarship applications will become available in Spring 2005. For more information on student scholarships and member grants, contact Gillian Schultz, WJA Scholarship Program Chair, Metronet Safe & Sound, 67 E. Madison St., #265, Chicago, IL 60603.
