Dubai Diamond Exchange Opens

In April, the United Arab Emirates become the first Arab state to open a diamond bourse, the Dubai Diamond Exchange. The DDE will be housed in Dubai's new Almas Tower (Almas means "diamond" in Arabic) and is meant to serve as a focal point for the region's diamond trade. The bourse's launch coincided with the two-day annual meeting of the World Diamond Council.
