By Staff -- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 5/1/2004

The Jewelry Information Center held its second annual Gem Awards gala in January in New York City. The black-tie event honored members of the jewelry industry and consumer press who have gone "above and beyond" in promoting the industry and building consumer interest in fine jewelry and watches. Carmen Borgonovo, accessories director of W magazine, was recognized for her journalistic excellence in coverage of the jewelry industry and its products. The Cartier company, represented by president and CEO Stanislas de Quercize, received the Corporate Communications Award for its outstanding marketing and promotion. David and Sybil Yurman, founders of David Yurman Inc., received a lifetime achievement award recognizing their innovative ideas that changed the way the American public perceives fine jewelry. Next year's Gem Awards gala is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 7.
