The Indian Diamond and Colorstone Association (IDCA) will host its 19th annual gala night in Las Vegas at the Mirage Hotel on Saturday, May 31, beginning at 6:30 p.m. As part of the festivities, IDCA will honor J.C. Penney as Retailer of the Year. Beryl Raff, senior vice president, fine jewelry and merchandising for J.C. Penney, will receive the award on behalf of the retailer. The Outstanding Media Performance Award will be presented to JCK magazine, with editor-in-chief Hedda Schupak slated to accept the award on behalf of JCK. Jeffery Comment, chairman and CEO of Helzberg Diamonds, will be the keynote speaker, and Robert J. DiNicola, chairman of Zale Corp., also will address the gathering. The event is sponsored by ABN-AMRO.
In other news, IDCA will host its 19th annual gala night in New York at the Marriott Hotel on Monday, July 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m. During the event, IDCA will honor jewelry manufacturer Jewel America Inc., with Israel Ashkenazy accepting the award on behalf of the company. Pattie Light, executive director of the Jewelers Charity Fund for Children, will receive the Doyenne of the Year Award. The keynote speaker will be Terry Burman of Sterling Jewelers, and Stanley Pollack of GM Pollack & Sons also will address the gathering.
