Boston Jeweler Joins Cancer Fund Beneift

Staff -- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 9/1/2002

Shreve, Crump & Low, a Boston icon for more than 200 years, recently made a charitable contribution in the form of a rare Rolex stainless-steel Daytona watch valued at $6,000. Company vice president Jacqueline Grande Raffi donated the timepiece to a silent auction being held in conjunction with the Ninth Annual Cam Neely Celebrity Golf Classic. The winning $7,900 bid came from Nicholas Logan of Georgia, who was attending the tournament. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Neely Cancer Fund, created by former Boston Bruins player Cam Neely and his brother Scott. The fund supports cancer research.

The Boston jewelry firm was founded in 1796 by silversmith John McFarlane. The flagship store is located on Boylston Street in the heart of Boston's Back Bay area, opposite the historic Public Gardens. The firm also operates a second location in The Mall at Chestnut Hill, in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Quinn's Goldsmith hosted its fourth annual Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser on March 22, 2002, in their Occoquan, Va., store. This year, with close to 120 people in attendance, the store raised more than $22,600, bringing the total for all four events to a little over $60,000. The evening featured live and silent auctions as well as door prizes, grab bags, and raffles. Terry and Sherry Quinn, owners of Quinn's Goldsmith, inaugurated the event in 1999 in memory of their daughter, Michaela Lee Quinn.
