Since 1869, Jewelers' Circular Keystone has been the go-to trade source for fine jewelers. René Lalique opens his own business

Peter Carl Fabergé is appointed goldsmith and jeweler to the Russian Imperial court

Six-prong Tiffany setting is introduced

1887

The Keystone magazine is founded

1888

Cecil Rhodes forms De Beers Consolidated Mines / Mikimoto starts his first pearl farm

1904

Louis Cartier designs the first men's wristwatch, the "Santos," for Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont

1905

Cullinan Diamond is discovered

1906

Jewelers of America is founded

1912

Jewelers Vigilance Committee is formed

1924

Morris and William Zale establish the first Zales Jewelers store, in Wichita Falls, Texas

1931

Robert M. and Beatrice Shipley begin the Gemological Institute of America / New York Diamond Dealers Club is established

1934

Robert Shipley founds American Gem Society

1935

The Jewelers Circular and The Keystone merge to create Jewelers' Circular-Keystone

1967

Tanzanite is discovered

1981

American Gem Trade Association begins

1983

Womens Jewelry Assn. is founded

1992

First JCK Show takes place in Las Vegas

2000
