‘Most Complicated Timepiece' to Be Auctioned

JCK Staff -- JCK Online, 10/29/2009 1:59:37 PM

Antiquorum's Nov. 14 and 15 sale in Geneva will include a yellow gold Patek Philippe Calibre 89, billed as "the world's most complicated timepiece." It has 33 complications, 1,728 parts, and 24 hands. It weighs nearly two-and-a-half pounds.

Patek Philippe produced the watch in 1989, to celebrate its 150th anniversary. It took 9 years of research, development, and manufacturing time, and only four were made, one each in yellow, pink, and white gold and one in platinum.
