JCK Show at Mandalay Bay to Be ‘Redrawn'

When the JCK Show moves to Mandalay Bay in 2011, it will be totally "redrawn" and rethought, said John Tierney, group sales director for the JCK Shows, at an informational session at the Marriott Marquis in New York to answer questions about the JCK Show's future.

"We can take a white canvas and redraw the show the way we always wanted it to be drawn," he said.

Some things will remain the same: JCK Las Vegas still will have two levels at Mandalay Bay, although Tierney said the floors would be equal. "There is no garage, no basement," he added.

The Luxury by JCK Show will take place in a ballroom on the upper level.

In addition, show staff will try to maintain some of the current configurations. "Our intention is that if you have a corner now, our intention is for you to get a corner in 2011," Tierney said. "I can't guarantee you a corner right now, because I haven't drawn the plan."

Tierney said booth rates would remain flat through 2011. "It's the same or less money for a better experience," he said.

Tierney noted that JCK Events was talking to retailers in focus groups to make the show a more "retailer-focused" event.

He said rumors that the show might move to Chicago were not true. He noted the show looked at various venues, but attendees preferred Las Vegas.

JCK Las Vegas is owned by Reed Exhibitions, which is in the process of assuming management responsibility for JCK magazine and JCKonline.
