Police in Kenya arrested six men in connection with the murder of Campbell Bridges according to a Telegraph (UK) report.
The men were arrested near where Bridges's family mined rare gemstones and are reported to have knowledge of the other attackers.
Bridges, the 71-year-old Scottish geologist who discovered tsavorite, was murdered by a mob in Kenya Tuesday over a dispute over mining rights in southeastern Kenya at a mine in the Taita Taveta District in Tsavo National Park.

acording to sources the arrested men were released on the orders of a local government official by threatning the police chief. this local government official was the one who ordered the killing of Campbell over the mining rights. nothing but pure greed.

Arrests ......... that is a start ......... keep the pressure up and sign the petition requesting the FULL INVESTIGATION and PROSECUTION of ALL THE GUILTY PARTIES. An Attack like this required FUNDING and PLANNING.

We need to keep the pressure up- we are not out of the woods just yet. If you have not yet signed the petition or e-mailed the Department of State, please go to tiptopgem.com right now for the links. These arrests are just the tip of the iceberg and do not mean that justice has been served. If you appreciate this man's work and his tireless efforts for gemology, Kenya, and for tsavorite and tanzanite please sign the petition and send an e-mail to the State Department. His family deserves to have everyone involved in this crime brought to justice.

The brutal murder of Cambell Bridges in Kenya came as a total shock and knowing Mr Bridges for some 6 odd years he was both Friend and mentor. To Bruce and Mrs Bridges words cannot express the feelings of anger that one has towards these thugs. It is maybe a harsh reaction and unfair to innocent Kenyan Gem Dealers But I a Gem Dealer will not be buying any Kenyan off the street stones until such time as the perpetrators are brought to book and sentenced to the harshest sentences possible under Kenyan Law. Is this another example of a African country descending into a state of total lawlessness. Recent events in Kenya point to it. I remember during Mr Bridges last visit to Shop in Pretoria South Africa that he had expressed concern the security situation as was considering relocating to Nairobi.
To Mrs Bridges and Bruce their are no words that I can say that will help your grief save to say that Cambell was a fine person to know and you are in my thoughts and prays.
