Reed Exhibitions to Assume Management of JCK Magazine and JCKonline
JCK Staff -- JCK Online, 8/12/2009 4:22:29 PM
Reed Exhibitions, North America, which produces The JCK Show and associated events, will assume management of JCK magazine and JCKonline, the company announced today.Transition planning has already begun. The change was prompted following a strategic review by Reed Business Information, JCK magazine's current owner, and a parallel consideration of brand strategy at Reed Exhibitions' JCK Events.
"JCK has more than a century of history in the jewelry industry, and the brand is among the strongest in the world," Reed Expo Americas President Chet Burchett said in a statement. "While the industry has faced great stress in the current economic downturn, JCK Events has actually increased its investment in the value, quality and experience we deliver to our customers. The result is that this year's JCK Las Vegas event stands among 2009's top two or three jewelry shows in the world. We believe it is essential to continue our efforts to build the brand's value for our customers in every context - face-to-face events, on-line products and both on-line and print content. Bringing the magazine into the broader JCK portfolio makes it easier to create greater value for our customers; it streamlines relationships and accelerates innovation and development of the brand."
Group Vice President Dave Bonaparte will assume management responsibility for JCK magazine as an integral part of his focus to grow the value of all JCK products and extend brand leadership in the North American jewelry industry.
"We have always had an excellent relationship with JCK magazine and we are excited about the potential to create new value and increasingly effective programs for our customers," said Nancy Walsh, Executive Vice President, Reed Exhibitions, North America. "Ours is a tight-knit industry where relationships, trust and value are the keys to success. That has been the commitment of both JCK Events and JCK magazine and that commitment will only deepen in the future."

Great News! I think both Reed Exhibitions and JCK Magazine are taking a step in the right direction! I feel strongly that under the umbrella of Dave Bonaparte and Nancy Walsh, JCK will bloom into the industry leading publication that it was meant to be, which is good news for the JCK Show! Since the inception of the show, JCK Magazine has played an integral part in this show, initially in its management but also as the key players in the advertising and marketing of the show. This union will only cement this bond further – a mtch made in heaven! Congratulations to both Dave and Nancy.

Well, GReed is telling us about all the improvements. Remember how we were told that the JCK Las Vegas show would be reduced to 4 days in 2009 (because of Shavuot we were told) and further we would save $$$ because of one less day of travel expenses. Now the former JCK Las Vegas 5-day event is no more. It is announced rather quietly that for 2010 the show will be also four days (June 4th through 7th)and Shavuout is in May. The booth cost to the exhibitor was not reduced 20%, but the savings to Reed have apparently become permanent as it is now institutionlized as a 4 day event.
PS: Congratulations Dave Bonaparte
