UPDATE: Dunay just spoke with JCK, vowing to "come out" of Chapter.11. See interview here.
Henry Dunay Designs, the company behind the legendary designer who was one of the first to “brand” his name, filed for bankruptcy Monday.
Dunay has been making jewelry for more than 50 years, and launched Henry Dunay Designs in 1965. He has been honored by JCK for outstanding design and was the subject of a book on his life penned in part by InStyle jewelry editors Marian Fasel and the late Penny Proddow. He is well-known for his “Sabi” textured finish and the use of big colored stone cabochons in his jewelry.
The case is Henry Dunay Designs, No. 09-13969.

It's a shame that these economic times takes another great industry professional. Henry was one of the pioneers in original designs. I guess retirement before bancruptcy was out of the question for Henry. Best of luck to you Henry.
