Here are my top 10 resolutions for store owners and sales managers. I hope that you enjoy them and make them your own!

  1. I will set goals and constantly work to improve the productivity of my staff.

  2. I will strive to give my people help, not hell, by devoting time to each individual.

  3. I will manage based on objective information rather than subjective information.

  4. I will become a better listener, communicator, and motivator.

  5. I will conduct weekly sales staff meetings focusing on sales techniques, product knowledge, operations, customer service, and recognition of accomplishments.

  6. I will listen in on sales presentations and offer constructive coaching.

  7. I will make training a process rather than an event.

  8. I will create an environment conducive to personal growth and development.

  9. I will adhere to my responsibilities of providing the leadership, knowledge, training, incentives, and consequences in order to recruit, hire, develop, and maintain successful salespeople.

  10. I will provide positive reinforcement in a ratio of at least 10:1 over negative criticism.
