The exhibit "Eternal Egypt: Masterworks of Ancient Art from the British Museum" will open July 10 at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria, BC, Canada. The exhibit—which has been on the road in the United States and Canada since 2001—was organized by the British Museum, owners of the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts outside of Cairo.

The 144 items on view span more than 3,000 years and are arranged chronologically to display the evolution of Egyptian art from the time of the great pyramids to the age of Cleopatra. Exhibits include gold jewelry, papyrus rolls featuring sections of the Book of the Dead, a quartzite sculpture of the head of Amenhotep III, and a 5,000-pound red granite lion.

The exhibit will run through Oct. 31 before moving to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. For more information, visit www.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca.
