Le Vian names winners for its children's design competition

Le Vian named the winners and the first runners up in its first children's design competition titled, "Le Vian for Children." The winning designs will be built by Le Vian and unveiled at the Le Vian Red Carpet Revue 2006 Celebrity Modeled fashion show at 4 p.m., June 5, during the JCK Show ~ Las Vegas 2005. The event will benefit the Jewelers for Children fund.

The winners in the five categories for the competition are as follows:

Symbol of Jewelers for Children - Using the Jewelers for Children symbol as inspiration, entrants were asked to create a piece that can be used to increase charitable donations.
Winner: Amanda Visco Genovino, Livingston, N.J.; Fashion Institute of Technology
First Runner Up: Carrie Hartley, Bronx, N.Y., Fashion Institute of Technology

Red Carpet Earrings - Entrants were asked to predict the trend in earrings worn by celebrities on the Red Carpet.
Winner: Mary Tanana, St. Petersburg, Fla.
First Runner Up: Sheena Farmer, New York City, Fashion Institute of Technology

Patriotic Design - Entrants were asked to design an item that will bring out the spirit of America.
Winner: Mary Tanana, St. Petersburg, Fla.
First Runner-Up: Susan Heard, Leucadia, Calif.; Gemological Institute of America

Bridal Rings - Entrants were asked to create an engagement ring, wedding band or a matching bridal set.
Winner: Mary Tanana, St. Petersburg, Fla.
First Runner Up: Eun-Young Lee, Busan, South Korea, Gemological Institute of America

Trends DesignWinner: Amanda Visco Genovino, Livingston, N.J.; Fashion Institute of Technology
First Runner Up: Megan Daisey, New York City; Fashion Institute of Technology

Twelve Le Vian employees and executives, from all facets of the company, served as judges for the competition. Renderings were judged on their originality, their fit in the category, the overall beauty of the design, and the inspiration for each rendering as written by the entrant. Once the judges narrowed down the entries to four finalists in each category, Eddie LeVian, CEO and head designer of the 500-year-old fine jewelry house, made the final decisions.
