GIA Opens New Exhibit

The Gemological Institute of America's Carlsbad, Calif., world headquarters has a new museum exhibit featuring one-of-a-kind art and jewelry from two of the American Jewelry Design Council's themed collections, "Puzzle," and "Water" (1999 and 2000, respectively). The nonprofit AJDC annually chooses a design theme as an inspiration for its members.

Pieces from the "Puzzle" and "Water" exhibit include George Sawyer's "Sailor's Moon" brooch, featuring a Japanese metal technique, Mokume gane; Alan Revere's "Ancient Waters" ring, featuring enhydro quartz with a three-phase inclusion; Michael Good's Puzzle pendant; and Christoph Krahenmann's clever 18k white and gold Puzzle ring.

"Puzzle" and "Water" will be on display Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., through 2005. All GIA exhibits are free to the public. To schedule a tour, call (800) 421-7250, ext. 4116.
