Lithuania will host its first amber and jewelry show. Called "Amber Trip 2004," the new show will be held in the city of Vilnius in the Municipal Town Hall from Feb. 28 to March 2.

The show will feature original amber work, including ornaments and souvenirs, jewelry, and artwork. Its purpose is to promote the country's amber trade and jewelry business and it is being marketed for people who work in amber jewelry production and for collectors. Seminars and conferences will be included in the show but have yet to be announced.

The show is the combined effort of the Masmedos Prekyba Company, the Lithuanian government, and foreign businesses and cultural institutions. Show organizers say they expect 10,000 foreign visitors and more than 25,000 locals to attend. Organizers also say that the show will be an annual event.
