Traveling salesman robbed of diamonds and jewelry worth $500,000

Three masked men and a getaway accomplice robbed a traveling jewelry salesman of $500,000 worth of diamonds and jewelry outside of a South San Francisco, Calif., hotel, according to media reports.
South San Francisco Police said that the robbery happened at 9 a.m. outside of the South Airport Boulevard Travelodge Hotel, the San Mateo Daily Journal reports. As soon as the salesman got into his vehicle and put his key into the ignition, three men wearing bandannas smashed three of his windows.
One man reached in and grabbed the two cases of jewelry, another took his cell phone and car keys, while the third slashed the car's back tires, the newspaper reports. They jumped into a getaway car and fled. All four were reportedly described as Hispanic males.
The car is described as a silver Ford or Chevrolet mid-sized sedan. In place of a rear license plate, there was a blue and yellow paper plate that said “Weber,” police reportedly said.
The salesman regularly travel from New York to Los Angeles and drives up to the Bay Area to sell diamond jewelry, police reportedly said.
