JCK Industry Fund Announces Grants

The JCK Shows and JCK magazine announced the recipients of the 2002 JCK Industry Fund at The JCK Show ~ Orlando 2002.

The Jewelers Vigilance Committee received $50,000 for developing a directory of appraisers in continuation of its J-Bar program. Jewelers' Security Alliance received $25,000 for development of psychological counseling for victims of jewelry-related crimes. Gemological Institute of America received $100,000 to conduct research on HPHT-treated diamonds. American Gem Society received $100,000 for research and development of a cut grade for fancy-shape diamonds. American Gem Trade Association received $50,000 to conduct research on how U.S. Postal Service irradiation affects gemstones. Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America received $75,000 to educate jewelry manufacturers on compliance with local laws on handling hazardous materials.

The JCK Industry Fund was created in 1998, and each year it distributes $400,000 in grants to organizations or individuals who develop plans to enhance the industry's image as well as promote the welfare and growth of the industry. To date the Fund has awarded more than $1,650,000 in grants.
