Marion Halfacre Dies

By Staff -- JCK Online, 7/1/2007 2:00:00 AM

Marion Halfacre, the well-known founder and owner of Traditional Jewelers in Fashion Island, Calif., died in June of a heart condition. He was 58.

Halfacre was president of the California Jewelers Association, a member of Jewelers of America's board of directors, and a member of The JCK Show advisory board.

Halfacre and his wife, Lula, were well-respected members of the business community and stayed consistently involved in a number of local charities. They moved to Newport Beach in 1972 from Mississippi and opened a small shop in Fashion Island that grew to what a local newspaper called a “city icon.”

In 2001, the local Chamber of Commerce honored the couple with a Silver Anchor Award for their contribution to local industry. And shortly before his death, the Chamber of Commerce's Commodores group honored Halfacre as Commodore of the Year.
