Jewelers of America Certified Master Bench Jeweler Bradney W. Simon has developed From Fee to Shining Fee, a training manual and computer software for pricing jewelry repairs. The software is a customizable spreadsheet template for Microsoft Excel that helps retailers set prices based on their cost. It automatically changes prices with changes in gold, platinum, or labor costs. The system enables users to print out a price list based on their store's information along with various “what-if” scenarios. The two-sheet format can be printed on the front and back of one sheet of paper. Institute for Bench Jewelers, 1066 Hopkins St., Spartanburg, SC 29307; (864) 573-5252.

Jeweled Remembrances is a blank journal that allows consumers to record the details of a piece of jewelry and how it came into their possession. The book contains five chapters—necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, and family heirlooms. Users record the date of receipt, occasion, initial appraisal value, and sentiments associated with the item. Space is provided for photos. The hardback book is bound in burgundy Kivar 7 with a kidskin finish and features acid-free paper. The covers and spine are stamped with an intricate design in gold foil. The book is suitable as a stand-alone gift item, an add-on purchase, a gift-with-purchase, or a promotional gift to attract bridal registry business. Jeweled Remembrances, 1933 Old Troy Rd., Martin, TN 38237; phone and fax (901) 588-0482.

The Case Armor Security Cover provides after-hours protection for valuable inventory and is a deterrent to the smash-and-grab thief. The covers attach to stainless-steel security rods permanently installed along each case. They are made of .25-in.-thick ABS, a high-grade plastic. The .375-in.-diameter stainless-steel attaching rods are mounted to the case with 3-in.-long screws. The top locking bar, .060-in.-thick stainless steel, is secured to the cover with a heavy-duty padlock. LockNet, 100 Courchelle Dr., Nicholasville, KY 40356-1067; (800) 887-4307 or (606) 887-9119, fax (606) 887-4958.

The expanded Goldstein Antique Diamond Price Guide is presented in a grid format and provides prices for antique-cut diamonds ranging from melee sizes of 0.01 ct. up to 2 cts., with matrixes for clarity and color grades. The guide is updated quarterly and automatically sent free of charge upon registration. Michael Goldstein and Regina Brophy also provide a specialized antique-cut diamond matching and locating service. They offer a stock of old European- and old mine-cut, rose-cut, single-cut, and antique bead and briolette-cut diamonds for immediate dispatch. Michael Goldstein or Regina Brophy, 580 Fifth Ave., Suite 903, New York, NY 10036; (800) 235-6581.
