C1 Tourbillon Gravity Honored for its Design

-- JCK Online, November 19, 2008

Concord’s C1 Tourbillon Gravity was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, the design watch of the year award, during a ceremony on Nov. 13.

The timepiece was conceived, elaborated, and assembled in only twelve months. Unveiled at Baselworld 2008, the mechanism was developed in collaboration with BNB Concept.

This specimen reinvents mechanical precepts in a singular stage-setting. The hand-wound Concord caliber with a 3.5 days power reserve, displays time in a case described by the company as “spectacular” for its construction and of volume. It includes a tourbillon disconnected from the case, an unusual seconds indication, a flyback chronograph, and a trust index display.

“By honoring the C1 Tourbillon Gravity with the design watch of the year award, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève is honoring the performance of a brand, and acknowledging the power of design of the entire C1 collection, which anchors the art of time in audacity and innovation,” Concord said in a statement. “It thus recognizes Concord’s contribution to the prestige of haute Horlogerie.”
