Retailer J. Edwards Diamonds of Albuquerque, N.M., has taken the Better Business Bureau of the Southwest to court over its rating on the organization's Web site, according to New Mexico Business Journal. J. Edwards was assigned a D, the second-lowest of 11 possible grades, which the store calls “inconceivable.”

Charles & Colvard said that George R. Cattermole, current director of the moissanite manufacturer, has been elected chairman of its board. Richard A. Bird is the company' new chief executive officer.

Castaldo Products Inc., Franklin, Mass., manufacturer of molding rubber for lost-wax casting of precious-metal jewelry, has purchased the assets of Western Wax Inc., manufacturer of Plast-O-Wax jewelry injection wax. The two products can now be purchased and shipped together, the companies said.

Jewelry designer and manufacturer Caroline Ballou, a division of LeStage Manufacturing Co., announced it was going out of business in January and selling its stock.

Two men have been appointed presidents of the Ebel luxury watch brand by the Movado Group. Loek Oprinsen was named president and commercial director, and Marc Michel-Amadry was named president and creative director. They replace Thomas van der Kallen, president since January 2005.

Lillian (Singerman) Ross, co-founder of Ross Simons, Cranston, R.I., died Jan. 24 at age 88. Ross and her husband, the late Sidney T. Ross, founded the company in 1952.

Littman Jewelers stores in Tennessee will change their name to Fred Meyer Jewelers, to coincide with the grand opening of two new Fred Meyer Jewelers in that state during the coming months. Fred Meyer Jewelers plans to open 15 stores nationwide during 2009.
