Jaeger-LeCoultre Celebrates Reverso's 75th

Swiss luxury watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre rolled out the red carpet to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Reverso, its signature timepiece collection, in November at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City. The 400-plus A-list guests included watch retailers, aficionados, and executives. Jerome Lambert, chief executive officer of Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Ronald Wolfgang, president of Jaeger-LeCoultre North America, attended, as did actors Matt Dillon and Joe Pantoliano.
A highlight was the U.S. debut of the Reverso Triptyque, the first timepiece with three faces. Valued at $375,000, it has 18 complications and six patents pending. Also on display were a collection of Reversos from years past, including one of the first models.
Jaeger-LeCoultre created the Reverso—whose case can be rotated 180 degrees (so the face is against the wrist, protecting its dial and crystal)—in 1931 in response to requests from British officers in India who often smashed their watches while playing polo.
