Seiko Corp. of America Gets New President

William George Shuster, JCK Senior Editor -- JCK Online, 12/26/2006 10:47:00 AM

Masato Nakaoda, president of Seiko Corp. of America since June, is leaving SCA to return to Tokyo, Japan sometime in the next few weeks. There, he will begin a new assignment at Seiko Corp., the parent firm, contributing to the brand building of some of the company’s other product divisions, including clocks, opticals, and jewelry.

Akira Suzuki, who has been executive vice president of Seiko Watch Corp. at the parent firm, will be the new president of SCA, located in Mahwah, N.J., starting in early January 2007. His previous assignments include serving as head of Seiko Clock worldwide. Earlier, during the 1980s, he was in charge of the-then Seiko USA clock division, when it was located in New York City.

The rest of the SCA management team remains unchanged, said Nakaoda in a Dec. 19 letter, and “our mission is still the same. We will continue to lead in new watch technologies and to further demonstrate innovation and refinement.”
