Nissko Jewelry has designed and manufactured a limited-edition medallion to commemorate the bravery of the men and women of the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY). Nissko is offering the 1.5-in. sterling silver medallion to all members of the FDNY free of charge.
The medallion features the Maltese cross, a symbol of firefighters nationwide, as well as a ladder and fire hydrant. None of the medals will be sold, and they are available only to firefighters in New York at this time.
The first medallions were presented to the men of Engine Company 65, a fire station two blocks from Nissko's offices. According to executive vice president Nissim Kontente, "We wanted to present this tribute to the firefighters in our neighborhood personally. They are truly heroes, and we wanted them to know how deeply we respect and value their service to our community."
