It is said that there is no greater love than that of a parent for a child. The preciousness of that love, and of children themselves, makes one wonder why jewelry—the symbol of choice for romantic love—has not been more widely recognized as the symbol for the parent/child bond. Many designers and manufacturers, recognizing that untapped potential, are offering retailers increasingly creative and innovative designs to woo parents. While baby and children's jewelry is not exactly poised to take over the jewelry market, it is a valuable addition to any retailer's inventory. With generally lower price points than the grown-up equivalent, tyke-sized jewelry also presents add-on sale opportunities—for the proud new father buying a gift for his wife, the working mom who wants her child to have a special token of love to wear, and, of course, don't forget the doting grandparents!
