LJG Makes Gift to JFC in Memory of Steve Stone

Staff -- JCK Online, 3/1/2006 2:00:00 AM

Members of Leading Jewelers Guild made a group contribution totaling $6,000 to Jewelers for Children, in memory of Steve Stone, chief executive officer of Stone's Jewelers, Milwaukee, who was killed in a plane crash July 20, 2005. Executive director Jimmy West presented the checks to JFC board member Howard Sherwood, president of Daniel's Jewelers/Southern California, and a former member and past president of Leading Jewelers Guild.

Steven W. Stone, 44, of Glendale, Wis., died in a plane crash after renting a Cessna 172 in Milwaukee for a solo flight to Green Bay as part of his pilot's training. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Anita Stone; brother Jim Stone; and sister Nancy Phillips.

Stone joined Leading Jewelers Guild in 1995 and was an active participant. He served on the board of directors for several years and was active on a number of committees. Stone's Jewelry Inc. operates four stores in the Milwaukee area.
