Van Cleef & Arpels robbed of $200,000 in jewelry

About $200,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from the Van Cleef & Arpels store in New York City early Wednesday after someone smashed a small front window, grabbed the jewelry and fled, New York City police said.
The 4:25 a.m. theft at the store at 744 Fifth Avenue, near 57th Street, was captured on videotape, though the police said the footage was of poor quality, The New York Times reported. No arrest had been made by Wednesday evening. Among the items stolen was a $73,000 necklace, three sets of earrings worth a combined $103,500 and a $23,500 ring, the police told the newspaper.
