GIA League of Honor Dinner raises $148,000; honors Crowningshield

By JCK Online Staff -- JCK Online, 12/23/2003 2:00:00 AM

The Gemological Institute of America raised more than $148,000 at its 2003 League of Honor Dinner Oct. 20 in New York City to benefit the G. Robert Crowningshield Research Fund. Crowningshield, former vice president of the GIA Gem Laboratory, attended and was recognized for his contributions to the field of gemology.

GIA’s history book, Legacy of Leadership: A History of the Gemological Institute of America by JCK Senior Editor William George Shuster also made its debut at the dinner and all those in attendance received a copy.

“I’m delighted that we were able to recognize our generous donors, unveil GIA’s impressive history, and honor our very own G. Robert Crowningshield before a sold-out crowd,” said Linda Ellis Harmeling, GIA chief development officer.

Next year's League of Honor Dinner will be Oct. 12, 2004 at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. For more information on how to become a GIA League of Honor member, contact Ellis Harmeling at (760) 603-4125 or e-mail Linda.ellis@gia.edu.
