PGI-USA to Host Golden Globe Platinum Preview

Platinum Guild International USA will host its annual Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Platinum Jewelry Preview to showcase platinum jewelry and watch designs for women and men from more than 30 of the world’s top jewelers including Neil Lane, Erica Courtney, Piaget, Mikimoto, Damiani, and Stephen Russell.
More than $40 million worth of jewelry will be on display at a luxurious hotel suite from Jan. 8 to 10, where celebrities and their stylists can try on and borrow over-the-top jewels for the red carpet.
Jewelry pieces include:
* Platinum Art Deco necklace circa 1935 by Stephen Russell (pictured left) containing 172 diamonds; (It was once owned by Joan Crawford, and is featured in the top-selling book “Hollywood Jewels” by Proddow, Healy & Fasel); valued at $195,000
* Platinum necklace with 65 cts. of emeralds and diamonds by Ashok Sancheti, valued at $1.2 million
* Platinum drop earrings with black and white diamonds by Neil Lane, valued at $29,000
* Platinum and diamond vintage necklace by Tiffany & Co. from Siegelson, New York, Circa 1928 valued at $1.85 million.
“Celebrities and their stylists look forward to PGI-USA’s Golden Globes event because it provides a one-stop jewelry loaning experience for men and women in an upscale environment,” says jewelry and style expert, Michael O’Connor, who curates the showcase. “We only offer the most rare and unique jewelry designs set in Platinum so that each nominee and presenter has the opportunity to find the perfect pieces to complement their gown or tuxedo.”
In addition to the exquisite jewelry, PGI-USA will create a complete platinum experience. Guests will be pampered with treatments from Bliss Spa including manicures, oxygen blasts and massages and will offer champagne cocktails.
Celebrities who attend will have the chance to sign limited-edition “platinum” iPods that will be donated to Clothes Off Our Back’s auctions to support children’s charities.
PGI-USA’s past Red Carpet Platinum Jewelry Suites have attracted A-list celebrities such as Debra Messing, Blake Lively, Amy Adams, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman, Cheryl Hines, Jane Kaczmarek and cast members from hit shows including Desperate Housewives, The Office, Entourage, and Gossip Girl.
