Shreve, Crump & Low To Move Flagship Boston Store

Shreve, Crump & Low is moving its flagship Boston store to 222 Berkeley St. in fall 2005. The store will occupy 22,000 square feet in the space formerly occupied by FAO Schwarz at the corner of Berkeley and Boylston streets in Boston's Back Bay.
Shreve, Crump & Low has occupied 330 Boylston Street, on the corner overlooking the Public Garden, for 75 years. For much of the 19th century, the store was located at the corner of Washington & Summer streets, now the site of Macy's. In 1891, the company built a larger store at the corner of Tremont and West streets. Then in 1929, Shreve's departed the traditional retailing district downtown and moved into an Art Deco showcase for its jewelry in the Back Bay, the most modern retail store then in Boston.
