Diamond jewelry exhibition from Jaipur at Israel Diamond Museum

An exhibition of traditional diamond jewelry from Jaipur, India, will be on display at the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum from April 15 - July 15 in Ramat Gan, Israel. The exhibition features 100 specially chosen pieces of jewelry from the enormous collection of the Kasliwal family, owners of the renowned jewelry store Gem Palace in Jaipur.

The exhibition includes a variety of pendants, rings, bracelets, and decorative containers featuring diamonds cut and set in the Rajasthan tradition. The intricate designs often combine gold, enamel, diamonds, and precious gems. The design motifs include elements of nature, such as flowers, leaves, buds and animals, especially snakes, tigers and elephants. Other motifs are based on calligraphy, symbols, and architectural forms.

The exhibition was initiated and curated by Yehuda Kassif, managing director of the Israel Precious Gems Exchange, a member of the Board of Directors of the Israel Diamond Museum, and Special Assistant to the President of the International Colored Gemstone Association.

Jaipur is a center for the design and production of jewelry in India, specializing in traditional designs. Gem Palace was founded in 1852 and continues to produce jewelry in the traditional manner. The store is a favored stop for jewelry lovers from around the world. Its clients include members of the British royal family, the Rockefeller and Rothschild families, presidents of the United States, the Queen of Spain, rock singers, and movie stars.
