NCCJ Cruise Raises $72,000

Staff -- JCK Online, 8/1/2003 2:00:00 AM

The National Conference for Community and Justice New Leadership Division raised approximately $72,000 for its various youth and community programs.

The money was raised through a raffle and a dinner cruise, which was held June 25 on the M/V Majestic Star. More than 200 guests attended the event, which featured a view of New York along the Hudson River, dinner, and music. The cruise is an annual event of the NCCJ New Leadership Division.

The NCCJ is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry, and racism in America. Its programs teach individuals in the community "how to get along with others." The organization works with police, community leaders, and business leaders.

This year, the organization has worked with more than 2,100 high school students in 18 schools for more than 12,000 hours. Also this year, the organization focused on hunger and homelessness by bringing together members of the religious communities and business leaders and by working with organization such as Partnership for the Homeless.
