Tulips and Tourmalines

Gem artist Stephen Avery of Lakewood, Colo., offers a glimpse at what he'll be taking to Tucson, Ariz., in February. Of note are his signature tulips, a pair of gem leaf designs, created for the imaginative jewelry designer. Avery is an award-winning faceter and has created a number of designs utilizing a curved girdle. Jewelers who have used Avery's pieces in the past include award-winning designer Mark Schneider, Mark Schneider Fine Jewelry Design, Long Beach, Calif., and Paul Derrickson, The Jewelers Touch, Placentia, Calif.
