Tiffany to open a store on Wall Street

Tiffany & Co. plans to open a 7,600-square-foot store on the ground floor and mezzanine of a landmark building on Wall Street that is currently undergoing extensive preservation and renovation.

Under the agreement with Skyline Developers LLC, Tiffany will be the exclusive retailer at 37 Wall Street. The store is scheduled to open in the fall of 2007.

Skyline Developers, the Manhattan based affiliate of privately held Garden Homes Development, one of the largest homebuilders in the nation, will be restoring the original façade of the 25-story, Beaux Arts-style building—designed between 1906 and 1907 by architect Francis Kimball as the Trust Company of America. The building is a significant example of early skyscrapers in Manhattan, and is one of the oldest remaining high-rises on Wall Street, both companies said in a joint statement.

Tiffany officials said the restoration of the building to its timeless elegance "will be the ideal setting for a Tiffany store and the jeweler's collections that reflect the growing spirit and vibrancy of a renewed downtown community."

The store will house its usual array of luxury goods, including fine diamond jewelry, engagement rings and its signature collections, including Tiffany Celebration rings; The Frank Gehry Collection; and the signature designs of Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso, and Jean Schlumberger; watches; gifts, and accessories.
