Free Seminar at FIT

The Jewelry Design department of the Fashion Institute of Technology, in conjunction with the Jewelry Design Professionals’ Network and the American Society of Jewelry Historians will present a panel discussion about the changes and opportunities taking place in the jewelry industry today. The seminar will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, 6:30 – 8:30pm, at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, in the Katie Murphy Amphitheater. FIT is located on Seventh Avenue at 27th Street, Building D. Admission is free of charge.
The state of the world economy as well as the extreme changes wrought by the emergence of digital technology and the Internet and as engines of work and commerce have impacted the lives and careers of all jewelry industry professionals. Understanding these changes and staying relevant will be the theme of the evening.
Participants in the venue include Cindy Edelstein, moderator, founder and president of the Jeweler’s Resource Bureau; Michael Coan, chairman, jewelry department, FIT; Jennifer Derrig, president, TheIrishJewelryCompany.com; Pam Levine, president, Levine Design Group; Alison Nagasue, independent designer and president, Jewelry Designers Cooperative; Duvall O’Steen, manager of PR and Promotion, World Gold Council; and, Jeff Taraschi, marketing and global business expert.
