By JCK Online Staff -- JCK Online, 5/15/2009 11:07:00 AM

The owner of an abruptly closed Rhode Island jewelry store now faces 21 counts of “unlawful appropriation” of his customer’s items, according to the Associated Press.

Daniel Martino, 57, owner of Strand Jewelers in Warwick, is alleged to have shut his store in May, without informing his customers or returning thousands of dollars of items brought in for repair.

Martino turned himself in Tuesday. Police began investigating Strand Jewelers after numerous complaints from customers, the news service said.
