The Customs Service issued new regulations for ruby and jadeite importation under the Tom Lantos Block Burmese JADE Act of 2008. The act says Burmese rubies and jadeite cannot enter the United States even if they were transformed elsewhere. The only exceptions are Burmese rubies and jadeite in the United States prior to Sept. 27, 2008, and items imported for personal use.
