Lynn Diamond Leaves DPSS. Lynn Diamond is leaving the Diamond Promotion Service after 10 years as executive director to join law firm White and Case.
Diamond made the announcement at the DPS breakfast at The JCK Show ~ Las Vegas. She recently graduated from Brooklyn Law School.
DPS is the trade outreach arm for the Diamond Trading Company account at JWT. At press time there was no word on who will replace her.
Prior to joining DPS, Diamond was editor-in-chief of National Jeweler.
Crescent Jewelers Gets New PresidentSteven Maginnis has been named president and chief operating officer of Crescent Jewelers, currently in Chapter 11. Maginnis joined Crescent Jewelers in May 2005. He previously was a consultant with Arthur Andersen, Jefferson Wells, and KPMG working with a variety of clients ranging from Banana Republic and Sephora to Best Buy and Long's Drugs. Prior to his consulting career, Maginnis worked for retail chains Good Guys, I. Magnin, and Mervyn's.
Hanard New HRD DirectorFreddy Hanard was appointed managing director of the Diamond High Council, the Antwerp, Belgium, promotional group. In addition, the recently elected board elected Jacky Roth as president and Kaushik Mehta and Stephane Fischler as vice presidents.
National Jeweler Sold National Jeweler has a new owner: The publication's parent company, Dutch conglomerate VNU, was just purchased for $9.7 billion by an investment consortium called Valcon Acquisition B.V., beating out shareholder Knight Vinke Asset Management.
Friedman's Moves to Dallas After more than 85 years in Savannah, Ga., Friedman's, which emerged from Chapter 11 at the end of 2005, is moving its corporate headquarters to Addison, Texas, the Dallas Business Journal reports.
The company has signed a 10-year lease in a Dallas office building, the newspaper reports. About 100 employees will relocate to North Texas in June and the company plans to hire another 200 people.
